Screening Services

Already found a nanny but don’t have the time or unsure how or what you should be checking?
We offer separate screening services to parents, including carrying out DBS checks, verifying previous childcare employment history, checking references and document validation.

References

Gaining a reference for your nanny is one of the safety checks that will give you peace of mind that you have made the right decision. Most nannies will provide written references from previous employers. It is essential to verify those references by talking to past employers and asking questions about the nanny’s abilities. We will contact the referees and put together a report for you.

We can obtain and verify two references for £30; any further references would be charged at £10 each. We endeavour to have your reference report back within 10 working days.

Per first 2 references £30
Any additional reference £10

Document Validation

Driving license, qualifications, DBS, first aid, Ofsted, right to work and passport.

All UK employers have a legal duty to make basic document checks on each person they intend to employ based on the Asylum and Immigration Act 2006. It is important to be thorough and ‘on guard’ as there are many illegal operations providing fraudulent identification and visas. Proof of current address should also be obtained. We can check driving license details and if your nanny is required to drive as apart of her role.

What is a DBS Check?

In 2012, The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) merged to become the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Therefore, CRB checks are now called DBS checks. The enhanced process checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings plus also checks to see that the nanny has not been entered on a register as not being suitable to work with children.

Nanny & Child DBS Checks

We regularly complete these checks for our own nannies and we can offer this service to families. After an offer of employment, a fresh DBS can be undertaken by Nanny and Child. It can take up to 2 weeks, but is usually is returned within 5 working days. Nanny and Child will receive confirmation of their clearance via email and the nanny will receive the completed certificate to their home address. We also then take a copy of the nanny’s certificate to keep with their candidate profile.

DBS Check – Process and Cost

For a fully enhanced DBS Check, one of our consultants will deal directly with the nanny and verify their documentation. Once applied for, we will monitor the application and when confirmed we will contact the family or nanny via email. The cost for this service is £80 (no VAT).

DBS Enhanced Disclosure (formerly CRB)

This is a police check on a nanny, but it also checks to see that the nanny has not been entered on a register as not being suitable to work with children. The ideal is to have a DBS check of less than 1 year old (CRB checks are now known as DBS, the Disclosure and Barring Service). We regularly complete or obtain enhanced DBS checks for our own applicants and can provide this service for you.

Why use Our Nanny Screening Service?

If you are a busy parent, you may not have time to do all these things and it is hard to obtain a DBS check unless you are registered with the Disclosure and Barring Service or have access to an Umbrella Body of the DBS.
